New report suggests Xbox Wrapped 2025 won’t take place this year due to budget limitations

Microsoft may have to increase Xbox console prices again due to global RAM shortages, according to a leaker

In 2025, while numerous platforms are eager to summarize your year—even for the most trivial details like your completed tasks in Asana—you might not receive the expected Xbox recap. According to insights shared by industry insider Jez Corden, the anticipated Xbox summary could be delayed this year or may not occur at all.

Corden indicated that some fans have been wondering whether Xbox would provide its annual “Year in Review” feature for gaming activities in 2025. However, sources suggest that Xbox will not be producing a “Wrapped” this year, likely due to significant upcoming milestones.

Specifically, next year marks several important anniversaries: Xbox celebrates its 25th anniversary alongside Halo, Blizzard is commemorating its 35th, and Bethesda will observe its 40th anniversary. Xbox debuted as a brand on November 15, 2001, while Blizzard’s foundation dates back to February 1991 and Bethesda was established in June 1986.

Due to these substantial milestones, much of the marketing budget that would typically go towards an Xbox Wrapped event is being redirected to celebrate these anniversaries, along with the associated brands and titles.

In contrast, both Sony’s 2025 Wrap-Up and Steam Replay for this year are already available. If you have not yet viewed yours, you can do so by visiting the official PlayStation or Steam websites.

This year has been particularly challenging for Xbox due to numerous layoffs, the cancellation of high-profile titles such as Perfect Dark by The Initiative and Everwild by Rare, as well as a decline in hardware sales. Even their flagship Call of Duty franchise has faced difficulties.

Nonetheless, according to Matt Booty, who oversees game content and studios at Microsoft, Xbox is set to hold one of its Dev Direct streams in January. He noted that there is a wealth of information to share, suggesting that updates on anticipated titles like the new Fable and the Forza Horizon series, among others under the Xbox Game Studios umbrella, are on the horizon.
