Pokémon’s 10th generation, Winds and Waves, is set to release in 2027 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2
The highly anticipated Pokémon titles, Wind and Waves, have been officially announced during the celebration of the franchise’s 30th anniversary event. Fans can expect a global launch in 2027.
The reveal featured an exciting gameplay trailer that showcased a diverse array of both new and familiar Pokémon, set against stunning backdrops like volcanoes, sandy beaches, and vibrant blue seas.
Wind and Waves appears to draw inspiration from a setting reminiscent of Southeast Asia. The trailer also provided a sneak peek at three new starter Pokémon: the Grass-type Browt, the Fire-type Pombon, and the Water-type Gecqua.
One key takeaway from the trailer is the announcement that this 10th generation of Pokémon games will not have a release in 2026. At the end of the trailer, both logos for Wind and Waves were displayed, along with a message stating: “global simultaneous release in 2027.” Additionally, the game is set to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2, as the trailer did not showcase any logos for the original Nintendo Switch.
