First Patch for Pokémon Pokopia Announced, Addresses Progress-Blocking Bugs and Simplifies Progression

Pokémon Pokopia has certainly made a splash, having sold over 2.2 million copies within its first week and positively affecting Nintendo’s stock. However, players are encountering several challenges that hinder their gameplay experience. Fortunately, Nintendo has announced an upcoming update aimed at tackling various bugs found in the initial release of the game.

According to a statement from Nintendo, the development team is aware of specific issues that are preventing players from progressing smoothly in the game. This is mainly due to the game’s open-ended design, which can inadvertently obstruct progress at times.

While the forthcoming patch won’t address every known issue, it will focus on two of the most frequently reported problems that block player progress. Specifically, it will enhance assistance for players dealing with broken blocks that impede key objectives in both Bleak Beach and Wasteland Wilderness.

Please note, the initial update details were originally in Japanese, and the information provided here has been translated based on an understanding of the game and its early quests.

Known Issues

  • In the “Wasteland Wilderness” during the “Let’s build a home!” request, Squirtle climbs a tree and cannot be interacted with, halting progress.
  • For the “Find a Pokémon Center!” request in “Bleak Beach,” if the cracked blocks on the bridge are destroyed before Professor Tangrowth crosses, it hampers further progress.
  • During the same “Find a Pokémon Center!” request, if certain steps are followed, the event to repair the bridge may not trigger, blocking advancement.
  • In “Rugged Mountain Town,” specific actions can prevent the encounter with “Rotom” from happening.
  • The “Let’s clean up the roads!” request in “Rugged Mountain Town” may become challenging under certain conditions.
  • The entry for “Spinarak” in the Pokédex contains inaccuracies.

Planned Improvements

  • In the Wasteland Wilderness request “Break the rocks with a Rock Smasher!”, placing a block where the cracked block is near “Onix” may confuse players on how to proceed.
  • In the Bleak Beach request “Take the Professor with you!”, placing another block near “Snorlax” can complicate the understanding of how to progress.

Future Plans

  • An update addressing the aforementioned issues is expected to be released soon. Even if players have already encountered these problems, applying the update will rectify them. The team will continue to investigate additional issues not listed here.

While there are no announcements about new content at this time, players can look forward to future events, including one featuring Hoppip and the “More Spores for Hoppip” quest. Although no additional events have been confirmed yet, it’s likely that more will be introduced in the near future.

Nintendo has not specified when the new patch will be implemented, but they have indicated it will be available “soon.”
