Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered introduces free challenge mode with mobile and Switch 2 launch
The developers at Aspyr have launched a complimentary challenge mode update for Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, aligning with its release on Google Play, iOS, and Nintendo Switch 2.
So, what does this new challenge mode entail? Essentially, it enables players to push their tomb raiding abilities to the limit with an array of customization options for difficulty. This includes alterations to health, damage, bonuses, and enemy encounters.
According to Aspyr, these features will generate new challenges with limitless replay value, and the more challenging the mode, the greater the rewards you can earn.
Among the unlockable content are ten fresh outfits for Lara, one of which evokes the impression of a mix between Wonder Woman and a Roman centurion (check out the trailer below). Each outfit comes with unique bonuses, such as enhanced running speed.
Additionally, for achievement hunters, this update introduces 15 new achievements to earn.
Regarding its launch on Switch 2, players who previously purchased Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered on the original Switch will soon receive the upgrade at no additional cost. The updated version will support a resolution of 1440p at 60fps while docked, and 1080p at 120fps when used in handheld mode.
Upon its initial release in 2024, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered received a four-star rating, though it was noted for some of its outdated features. It captured the essence of what made the original games unique, showcasing a love for the franchise, despite some awkward gameplay moments.
