Divinity: Original Sin 2 is now available on the latest generation of consoles: Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Prior to the release for these new platforms, Larian’s acclaimed RPG was accessible on Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. Now, players can enjoy enhanced graphics and a smoother framerate on the current consoles. Moreover, those who already own the game can benefit from a complimentary upgrade.

This unexpected launch follows a recent leak concerning a PS5 version of the Definitive Edition, hinting that this announcement was not entirely unforeseen.

Initially released in 2017 for PC, Divinity: Original Sin 2 subsequently appeared on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and iPad. Although it could already be played on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S through backwards compatibility, this new release marks its official debut on these platforms.

Larian’s director of publishing, Michael Douse, humorously acknowledged the leak last week, suggesting it was premature to announce such information.

This leak coincided with new trademarks related to the Divinity series, paving the way for Larian’s reveal at The Game Awards regarding their development of a new entry in the franchise.

This announcement has shed light on the enigmatic statue found in the Mojave Desert, featuring a chilling trailer, and it promises a new Divinity installment that aims to surpass even Baldur’s Gate 3 in scale.
