Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 fans are struggling with the increased difficulty of the Update’s new bosses and challenges
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has recently received an unexpected patch, and Sandfall Interactive has certainly delivered on its promise of “challenging boss encounters for seasoned players within the Endless Tower.”
Patch 1.5.0 not only added a new environment called Verso’s Drafts but also brought localization improvements and new costumes. The update features “new boss fights designed for end-game players to tackle in the Endless Tower,” which are variants of the game’s iconic bosses, now re-engineered to provide an even tougher challenge. Among these is a formidable reworking of Simon, already known as one of the game’s most difficult foes.
Players are finding the Divergent Star version of Simon to be particularly daunting, surpassing the difficulty of his original form. Social media is buzzing with gamers expressing their astonishment and frustration, not only with Simon but also with the new red ring diving board challenge.
One player shared their frustration by stating, “I’ve tackled many games labeled as ‘hard’, but this is driving me up the wall… I managed to defeat Simon on expert in about ten attempts, and Osquio on my second try, but these four bosses in the Endless Tower are a completely different beast. I don’t think I’ve faced anything that challenging before, especially Simon.”
Another gamer vented in a discussion titled “This DLC is a joke?”: “After countless hours, I finally managed to defeat Osqio. The final encounter took around 1.5 hours, no exaggeration. Then I misjudged a gradient attack at the end, and that was that? No backup team, no second chances? So now I have to repeat that 1.5 hours without making a mistake just to get a shot at it again, and likely mess up the gradient parry?”
Overall, while the new DLC is praised for its creativity, some players are finding certain aspects frustrating. “The content is fantastic, but some elements I can’t stand. I don’t have eight hours to burn just trying to parry an attack that can lead to instant failure.”
The expansion for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is currently available following its announcement at The Game Awards. Developer Sandfall Interactive hinted in October that the update would feature exciting content centered around the beloved companion Esquie. This expansion was confirmed by director Guillaume Broche as the game celebrated its Game of the Year win, with the update being a gesture of gratitude for an incredible year.
Recently, French President Emmanuel Macron publicly recognized Sandfall Interactive for its impressive achievement of nine awards at The Game Awards, acknowledging their significant contributions to the gaming industry.
