New Hellraiser: Revival development diary warns that the horror game is not meant for those “sensitive” to mature content

Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games have shared a developer diary for their upcoming horror title, Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, providing insights into its unique storyline and mature themes.

Unveiled at the recent 2025 Horror Game Awards, the seven-minute teaser features an interview with the iconic Doug Bradley, who returns as the infamous character, Pinhead. Bradley expressed his excitement upon learning about the game’s development, stating, “Finally! What took you so long?”

Art director Petra Nikolic highlighted that the game is packed with explicit content, graphic violence, and gore, advising viewers to avoid watching it in the presence of children or colleagues. Game director Emil Esov cautioned that those who are sensitive to intense themes might want to approach the game with care.

Esov described Hellraiser: Revival as a “dark and unsettling tale of individuals with deep emotional voids.” He emphasized the blend of action and violence, enveloped in elements of leather, flesh, and chains, aiming to captivate fans of psychological horror and the series’ titular character.

The development team also discussed their collaboration with the renowned horror author Clive Barker, who insisted that they fully grasp the essence of his work before embarking on the game’s creation.

This new installment marks the first Hellraiser game, referred to as a single-player survival horror action experience. Announced in July, it promises an innovative exploration of the series through the journey of Aidan, who is determined to rescue his girlfriend, Sunny, from Hell and the horrific challenges that lie ahead.

Players will utilize the Genesis Configuration puzzle box to unlock dark, enigmatic abilities while confronting cultists, depraved individuals, and terrifying creatures. The promotional material hints at a diverse arsenal of weapons, some notably brutal and others intriguingly entertaining, but it raises the question of whether they will suffice to prevent an eternity of suffering.

As of now, Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival does not have a set release date but is expected to launch on PC via Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series platforms.
