Happy Holidays: 007 First Light, the James Bond game, has been postponed

The highly anticipated James Bond title, 007 First Light, has experienced a delay. Developer IO Interactive announced today that the release has been pushed back by two months to May 27, 2026, instead of the previously scheduled March launch.

IO Interactive’s CEO, Hakan Abrak, expressed in a statement, “007 First Light is our most ambitious endeavor to date, and our team is dedicated to creating a remarkable James Bond experience filled with thrilling action, international adventures, spycraft, gadgets, epic car chases, and more. As an independent studio, this decision allows us to ensure the quality of the game meets the expectations of players from day one.”

Additionally, he stated that the game is currently playable from start to finish, and the extra two months will provide an opportunity to polish and enhance the overall experience. Abrak emphasized confidence in the game’s potential for long-term success and expressed gratitude for the patience and support from the community since its announcement.

Recently, 007 First Light was showcased at The Game Awards, featuring a new trailer that highlighted musician and actor Lenny Kravitz as one of the antagonists.

One Bond enthusiast, Alex Donaldson, had the opportunity to see the game in action and was notably impressed. He remarked that the game offers much more than just the elements found in IO Interactive’s previous Hitman series, suggesting it could be the “ultimate composite video game.”
