Series of DDoS attacks on Final Fantasy XIV continues for the second day
Yesterday, the Final Fantasy XIV team announced that they had experienced large-scale technical failures due to massive DDoS attacks. Players began to complain that they could not enter or exit the game.
Most often, users faced problems such as a lack of connection to the data centre. Players were unable to connect to their accounts, send or receive messages, view information about their character, etc.
The team said yesterday that they would do everything possible to fix the situation during the day. It was planned that the repair would be completed on the same day, but this did not happen.
Today, on 7 May, Final Fantasy XIV is still under the DDoS attack. Players’ access to the game is currently limited, and if someone manages to log in to their account, it is a lucky break. The developer Square Enix noted that the problem has spread to servers around the world, from the US to Oceania. The company is doing everything possible to minimise losses.
This is not the first time Final Fantasy XIV has suffered from DDoS attacks. In 2022, one such attack disrupted the operation of the North American data centre. In 2019, a DDoS attack also prevented players from enjoying the gameplay.
