Pokémon fans share their thoughts on the Winds and Waves reveal – “We truly got the furious bird
Pokémon enthusiasts have just wrapped up viewing the presentation for the franchise’s 30th anniversary, which featured the exciting debut trailer for the 10th-generation titles: Pokémon Winds and Waves. As reactions are bubbling up across the internet, fans have quickly started having fun sharing their thoughts about the latest additions to the Pokémon roster.
“Isn’t that just red from Angry Birds?” commented user Sceptic_Stream on Reddit, humorously inserting the iconic angry bird from the popular mobile game into a comparison with Browt, one of the new starter Pokémon. This sentiment resonated with others, but despite Browt’s sullen demeanor, he seems to be winning over fans.
“I’ve always chosen a grass-type starter in every Pokémon game, and I won’t stop now,” said Pete Stewart from Respawn Entertainment. “But I must say, Pombon is everything I could want (though Browt has definitely captured my heart too).”
It’s hard to resist the charm of this moody character!
Bombon, the upbeat Pomeranian-inspired Pokémon, has also endeared itself to many players. “You can’t imagine how thrilled I am to have my little pup accompany me in Waves,” expressed Impressive-Eggplant6, seeing a resemblance to their own adorable dog.
Other fans dedicated their affection to the Fire-type starter, albeit with some caution: “Please, let’s not have him evolve into a human!” pleaded Petrana Radulovic, referencing the franchise’s tendency to anthropomorphize four-legged creatures.

The final starter, Gecqua, is also receiving praise. One user, Key_Amazed, stated, “I adore Gecqua’s design! I have a soft spot for elegant water-type Pokémon like Milotic. I really hope the final forms don’t walk on two legs.”
Artists are already busy creating tributes to the new starters!
Aside from the starters, what else caught fans’ eyes? For the first time in a while, a Pokémon game seems visually striking! A user known as _AntiSocialMedia expressed optimism, saying, “If the graphics represent what we can expect from the game, I’m cautiously hopeful,” after seeing early gameplay footage. “Despite the low image quality, the visuals of the last few titles were lackluster, so this is refreshing. The lighting on the Slugmas in the caves really stood out.”
SpaceShipRat echoed this sentiment, remarking, “They’ve finally done it! After a decade, they’ve created a full 3D game that’s actually pleasant to view.”
As initial impressions go, Pokémon Winds and Waves appear to be off to a fantastic start. The big question remains whether this positive momentum will continue as we edge closer to the anticipated 2026 release for both titles, especially since this generation is set to be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2.
