Nintendo is creating a compact Game Boy music player featuring collectible cartridges of Pokémon Red and Blue soundtracks

Nintendo is set to launch a compact music player designed in the style of a Game Boy, which will feature exclusive cartridges that play music from the classic Pokémon Red and Blue games. This handheld device is being released today.

The announcement was made by Junichi Masuda, a notable figure in Pokémon music, during this afternoon’s Pokémon Presents event. The music player will include a total of 45 collectible cartridges, each showcasing tracks from the original Pokémon games, with particular attention paid to ensure the sound quality closely resembles that of the games themselves.

As for pricing, a Japanese website lists the device at JPY 9900, approximately £47. However, additional details regarding availability in Europe have not yet been revealed.
