Stardew Valley Marks One Third of Pokémon’s Age with a Video Showcasing Its Upcoming Update

This week marks the 30th anniversary of Pokémon, while Stardew Valley celebrates a decade since its release. Is that just a coincidence? You can draw your own conclusions. However, our main focus is on Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone’s beloved farming simulation game, which is commemorating this significant milestone with a special video that showcases the upcoming 1.7 update among other surprises.

Stardew Valley debuted on PC on February 26, 2016, making today the official tenth anniversary of the game. Earlier this week, Barone hinted at a special treat for fans on social media. The video, scheduled to premiere at 7 PM UK time this evening, is billed as a “retrospective and new spouse reveal,” offering glimpses of pre-release footage and accompanied by Barone’s commentary.

In the video, Barone will discuss the multiple updates Stardew Valley has undergone over the years, leading us to the exciting “spouse reveal.” Last August, despite previously stating that no further updates would arrive until he finished his next project, Haunted Chocolatier, Barone shared that he had reconsidered this position. In February, he teased that the upcoming 1.7 update would introduce enhancements to the game’s children, making them “a little more interesting,” along with introducing two new marriage candidates for players to pursue. Tonight’s video will offer a chance to meet these new characters.

For those eager to discover their potential new in-game partners, make sure to tune in to YouTube at 7 PM GMT/8 PM CET/11 AM PST when the anniversary video goes live.

Regarding the anticipated Haunted Chocolatier, Barone recently indicated that development on this title, which was initially announced in 2021, has been progressing well. However, no release date has been provided yet, with Barone stating that it will “be ready when it’s done.”
