Guilty Gear developers are creating a card-based survival game featuring gorillas, titled Goritaire

Arc System Works, renowned for its exceptional fighting game titles like Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, has announced an intriguing new project: a card game inspired by gorillas, aptly named Goritaire. This game is set to release soon across multiple platforms, including PS5, Switch, iOS, and Android, just a couple of weeks away.

Goritaire is characterized as a “solo card-based survival game focused on assembling a group of seven or more gorillas.” Players will draw from a deck containing cards featuring gorillas and bananas. Details about gameplay mechanics remain somewhat vague, as the official page provides limited information.

The game promises a variety of “unique actions for each stage” that players must learn to navigate strategically. The primary objective is to gather essential resources to establish dominance in the jungle. A key point highlighted by Arc System Works is the significance of bananas: “Bananas are crucial for survival. If the supply runs out, the troop will disperse, leading to defeat.”

While specific gameplay elements still elude clarity, the announcement trailer is presented in Japanese, making it harder to grasp the full scope of the game for non-speakers. Throughout its brief 30-second runtime, viewers can enjoy charming animations of gorillas engaging in playful antics amid falling giant bananas. Additionally, the Steam visuals showcase intriguing terms such as “equality,” “mounting,” “destitution,” “silverback,” “sage,” “crescent,” “divination,” “cooking,” “planting,” and “call,” leaving potential players both puzzled and curious.

With Goritaire set to launch on March 18, anticipation is building, and gamers won’t have to wait long for more details to emerge!
