Crimson Desert PR responds to claims of ‘hiding’ console footage as launch approaches

The marketing director of Crimson Desert has expressed frustration over repeated concerns that Pearl Abyss is withholding console gameplay footage of their upcoming open-world action-adventure title.

Will Powers, the PR and Marketing Director, addressed these concerns directly, stating on social media that the team is not concealing any information, despite claims to the contrary. “We’re not hiding anything, and I’m tired of repeating myself,” he asserted, promising that more information will be shared before the game’s release to allow players enough time to preorder.

Powers mentioned that he feels like he has had to clarify this point “hundreds of times” already. In his post, he asked for patience, saying, “Let us cook? Please and thank you.”

Many have drawn parallels to the situation surrounding CD Projekt Red during the controversial launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020, when console footage was also largely absent prior to release. Some responses to Powers’ comments suggested that being more transparent, such as providing early review access for the console version, could instill greater confidence in the game.

Powers later followed up on Reddit, emphasizing the importance of transparency in helping consumers make informed decisions. He expressed that while everyone deserves information, demanding immediate updates can come off as entitlement.

Despite these reassurances, skepticism remains among some fans regarding the lack of showcased console gameplay. One commenter pointed out that with the launch date fast approaching, there are still many unknowns, such as the targeted frame rate, and suggested that even a small amount of gameplay footage would help alleviate concerns.

For those interested, Crimson Desert is scheduled to launch on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC on March 19.

In related news, earlier this month, it was reported that Crimson Desert has exceeded three million wishlists on Steam. Additionally, the developers confirmed that AI-generated voice acting will not be incorporated for NPCs in the game.
