March Update of Nintendo Switch Online Classics Library Focuses on Mario, Featuring a Surprising New Game
Nintendo has been keeping the momentum going with a stream of announcements and updates since the start of the year. Recently, fans got a sneak peek at what to expect for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription offerings in March.
On March 4th, the company revealed the upcoming additions to the paid digital collection of classic games. This month’s offerings include some lesser-known Mario titles from the Virtual Boy and Game Boy Advance Classics, set to launch on March 10th—also known as MAR10 Day. For those who own the latest version of the Virtual Boy hardware, two games are on the way: Mario’s Tennis, which offers a different pace compared to Mario Tennis Fever, and Mario Clash, a 3D reimagining of the classic Mario Bros. from 1983. However, the new addition from the GBA lineup might be the highlight for many gamers.
Recently, Nintendo Switch saw a significant remake of Mario vs. Donkey Kong, making it a delightful surprise that the original GBA game is returning in a new format. Some long-time fans might recall that this title was previously available on the 3DS eShop and on the Wii U, so this isn’t the first time it has been accessible on contemporary platforms. Nonetheless, judging by the comments on YouTube, many were caught off guard by its revival so soon after the major remake on Switch.
The response has been positive, and it’s encouraging to see the Switch Online catalog expanding with interesting titles, even if some hardcore fans may always desire more from the collection of classic games. What old favorites would you like to see added next?
