Resident Evil Requiem teaser ignites discussions among fans about whether Leon S. Kennedy is engaged, and if so, to whom

Resident Evil Requiem serves as a celebration of the iconic survival horror franchise’s 30th anniversary, packed with delightful details. However, one subtle inclusion by Capcom has sparked quite a bit of discussion among fans. Towards the game’s conclusion, when Leon S. Kennedy removes his gloves, a noticeable ring on his finger raises questions about whether our favorite leather-clad hero has entered into matrimony, leaving fans to wonder who the lucky partner might be.

Admittedly, I overlooked this particular detail during my playthrough, likely distracted by Leon’s impressive physique. However, as many players finish their initial run of Requiem, numerous images are circulating online as evidence. Moreover, the ring makes a prominent appearance in concept art that players can unlock after completing the game.

While a ring on Leon’s finger does not definitively indicate he is married, the speculation is rife. Fans are immediately thinking of Ada Wong, who shared a fleeting kiss with Leon during Resident Evil 2; though, I must note, Leon didn’t seem particularly eager to reciprocate that kiss. However, given their history, it is plausible that something more significant developed between them off-screen over the years.

Other fans speculate that Claire Redfield could be the one who captured Leon’s heart. Since Requiem brings closure to the events of Resident Evil 2, it feels thematically fitting, especially considering Claire was the first ally Leon encountered in the ill-fated Raccoon City.

Additionally, Requiem features an unlockable charm titled Trusted Companion, associated with Claire, which could reference her role in the narrative, contrasting her with Ada in Resident Evil 2. Not to mention, Leon’s humorous remark implies he’s inexplicably close with Chris, establishing that they must have a meaningful connection as well.

Despite the tantalizing hints surrounding potential marriage, Resident Evil Requiem has garnered praise for its gameplay. I awarded it five stars in my recent review, describing it as a brilliant blend of gripping horror and a nostalgic celebration for long-time fans of the franchise. This weekend, the game also achieved the highest concurrent player count in Resident Evil’s history on Steam.
