Nintendo Direct Unveils The Super Mario Galaxy Movie with New Artwork Featuring Surprising Names
Nintendo has revealed that a new Direct presentation will be held for the much-anticipated sequel to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. This event is scheduled for March 9th at 9 PM UK time. Similar to previous showcases for the film, this Direct will not contain any gaming announcements. Viewers can watch the presentation through YouTube or on the Nintendo Today app.
In conjunction with this announcement, Nintendo also unveiled some fresh artwork for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, showcasing a few surprising characters who will appear in the film.
Among the characters featured is the black-clad Ninji, which may have gone unnoticed in earlier promotional material. These star-shaped ninja creatures first emerged in the classic titles Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario Bros. 2. Initially, many believed their skin to be black with red buttons for modesty. Ninji has since made appearances in various Mario spin-offs, including Super Mario Party and the golf title on the Switch.
Additionally, the new artwork spotlights Birdo, a fan-favorite character, alongside Mouser, a villain introduced in Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario Bros. 2.
Also making an appearance is Wart, a frog-like foe known as the primary antagonist in Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario Bros. 2.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set to hit theaters on April 1st, with no tricks involved. Recently, a cinema listing may have inadvertently hinted at another character who could join Mario and his friends in the sequel.
