With the announcement of a sequel to Kena, the original game is headed to Switch 2

Owners of the Nintendo Switch 2 will soon have the opportunity to enjoy the acclaimed indie title, Kena: Bridge of Spirits. This game first launched in 2021 for PlayStation and PC and made its way to Xbox in 2024. It is set to make its debut on Nintendo platforms this spring.

The version for Switch 2 is described by the developers at Ember Lab as being “feature-complete,” incorporating the Anniversary DLC and a New Game Plus mode. Players can expect to access Charmstones, Spirit Guide Trials, various outfits for Kena, and a range of accessibility options.

Josh Grier, an executive at Ember Lab, expressed excitement about introducing Kena’s adventure to a broader audience, allowing players to engage with her story both at home and on the go with the Nintendo Switch 2. He noted how meaningful the enthusiastic reception of the game has been for the team, expressing their joy that even more players will now be able to dive into Kena’s world.

For those uncertain about whether Kena: Bridge of Spirits is the right fit, it’s worth noting that prior critiques acknowledged the game as a stunning yet somewhat conventional adventure. The initial review highlighted the game’s promising elements, which were sometimes undermined by execution, suggesting that while it has great potential, it has not yet fully realized it.

Additionally, there is anticipation surrounding the franchise’s future, particularly the sequel titled Kena: Scars of Kosmora, which was revealed earlier this year. In this upcoming chapter, Kena will pursue long-sought answers regarding her struggles, embarking on a journey to the enigmatic island of Kosmora, believed to hold profound secrets from a sorrowful history. Fans are eager to see if this sequel can deliver on the promise shown in the first game.
