Pokémon Pokopia has officially launched, and it’s already making waves in the gaming community. In a swift move, Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, and development teams Game Freak and Omega Force have unveiled their first exclusive event, introducing new Pokémon to the mix.

Despite the laid-back vibe of Pokopia, the announcement of this inaugural event indicates that fans may experience some FOMO (fear of missing out) with upcoming updates. The “More Spores for Hoppip” event will introduce adorable Pokémon such as Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff. However, here’s the catch: these Pokémon will only be obtainable during this event, adding pressure for completionists.

Timed events are a common feature in Pokémon titles, and there’s optimism that this one might return based on player input, similar to past events in other Pokémon games. The event is scheduled to take place from Monday, March 9th, at 1:00 PM PDT (8:00 PM GMT) until Tuesday, March 24th, at 12:59 PM PDT (6:59 AM on March 25th in the UK).

During this period, players will also encounter special cotton spores that can be collected and traded for picnic-themed furniture items. These new items are designed to help players create habitats that attract Skiploom and Jumpluff.

There’s an added layer of excitement and challenge, as players need to progress to a specific point in the game before they can befriend these Pokémon: “Take note that this event will only be available in towns featuring a rebuilt Pokémon Center.” Unfortunately, those playing in the multiplayer Cloud Islands won’t have access to this event, which might be a letdown for some.

Additionally, players can look forward to a bonus item available until January 31, 2027. This item is a charming Ditto rug, which thankfully looks endearing instead of unsettling like some of the human-shaped Ditto variants.
