Warner Bros. Montréal Developers Announce Job Cuts
Numerous developers from Warner Bros. Montréal have reported layoffs within the company. Although there has been no official announcement regarding these job cuts, several former employees from various departments have shared on LinkedIn that they are seeking new employment, confirming their departures occurred on Friday, March 13th.
If these reports are accurate, they may correspond with remarks made by Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, who indicated that the acquisition of Warner Bros., including its renowned gaming division, by Paramount was likely to involve substantial cost-reduction measures.
Warner Bros. has faced ongoing challenges in the gaming sector. In its Q1 2025 earnings report, the company disclosed a 48% decline in gaming revenue, attributed to a lack of new releases. This news follows the cancellation of an expansion for Hogwarts Legacy, layoffs at Rocksteady after the underwhelming performance of Suicide Squad, the cancellation of Monolith Productions’ Wonder Woman game, and the discontinuation of the brawler Multiversus.
In its latest earnings statement, Warner Bros. Discovery labeled 2025 as a “pivotal” year, yet provided minimal information about its gaming division aside from claims of efforts to “rebuild” its video game pipeline following the Paramount acquisition. The overall revenue for its Studios segment, which encompasses gaming, fell by 14% compared to the previous year.
