CD Projekt Red Clarifies No More ‘Secret’ Content for Cyberpunk 2077 Amid Witcher 3 DLC Speculations
If you’ve been keeping up with the gaming world, you might have heard some intriguing rumors about a potential new DLC for The Witcher 3, which would come more than a decade after its original release.
As for now, these speculations are just that—speculations. However, CD Projekt Red seems to have acknowledged fan curiosity, responding to a question regarding the possibility of “secret new DLC” inspired by these ongoing rumors.
The studio’s response may not be what fans were hoping for: “We have no plans for additional DLCs or expansions,” they stated. “If there are any changes, we will let everyone know!” Disappointing, indeed.
This likely means that the developers are focused on the next installment in the Cyberpunk series, which could explain the reduced updates for the original game released in 2020. Currently, the sequel is in pre-production, and creator Mike Pondsmith has expressed his desire to bring back Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand, stating he has “ways” to make that happen.
Pondsmith also hinted that Cyberpunk 2 may introduce a new city alongside Night City, inspired by a version of Chicago gone awry. This concept was subtly alluded to in the recently released DLC, Phantom Liberty, for Cyberpunk 2077.
For those eagerly anticipating more Cyberpunk experiences, it appears that the wait will continue until the sequel’s release. Recent statements from the studio dampen hopes for any unexpected updates to Cyberpunk 2077 in the near future. For now, we may just have to hold on and see what fresh Witcher-related opportunities unfold later this year. In positive news, a cinematic animator from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s developer, Sandfall Interactive, has recently joined CD Projekt Red.
