Finally, Lego is officially giving Mario the proper minifigure treatment

After previously limiting Nintendo’s iconic character to a more blocky version in their interactive models, Lego is finally giving Mario the treatment he deserves with a proper minifigure design.

We caught our first glimpse of the Mario minifigure through a promotional social media post for Mario Day, featuring a plastic representation of Nintendo’s beloved plumber emerging from a warp pipe.

Unlike traditional Lego minifigures, Mario’s head appears to be uniquely designed, with his hat and mustache integrated into the mold rather than being removable or simply painted on.

The latest announcement from Lego regarding this collaboration excited fans, as it featured the animated image of Mario in action, proclaimed with the phrase, “New form unlocked!”

So far, the reaction to this collaboration has been overwhelmingly positive. One enthusiastic fan commented, “DUDE THIS IS ACTUALLY AMAZING THANK YOU LEGO,” while another exclaimed, “Oh my god it’s ACTUAL LEGO Mario.”

As for when this Mario minifigure will be available for purchase, it is expected to launch sometime in 2027. It raises the question of whether other characters like Luigi, Peach, and others will also receive minifigure transformations.

This isn’t Lego’s only venture into the Nintendo universe. Earlier this year, the two companies revealed a series of Pokémon sets, including figures like Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Eevee.

In the wake of these Pokémon sets being made available, resale platforms saw an influx of the Lego Pokémon Kanto Region Badge Collection, which was offered as a free bonus for those who pre-ordered the premium Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set.
