CD Projekt Red plans to release games more frequently
Polish studio CD Projekt Red, known for its high-quality games such as The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077, is set to change its game release strategy. In the first quarter of 2024, the company’s CEO, Michał Nowakowski, announced their plans to increase the frequency of game releases.
CDPR already has experience working on two projects simultaneously, including Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and Polaris — the first installment of a new The Witcher trilogy. Nowakowski also noted that the studio is currently working on several other projects, including the Orion sequel for Cyberpunk 2077, the multiplayer action game Sirius set in The Witcher universe by The Molasses Flood, and a remake of the original The Witcher by partners Fool’s Theory, titled Canis Majoris.
According to the report, Polaris involves 407 CDPR employees, Orion — 56, Sirius — 39, and Hadar — 20. Additionally, no one is currently working on the original Cyberpunk 2077 at the studio.
“You can definitely expect more game releases from us,” emphasized Nowakowski. While exact timelines between projects are not disclosed yet, CD Projekt Red declares its intention to increase the frequency of releases and bring new gaming propositions to the market with greater regularity.
