New Call of Duty will not require 300 GB of memory
Activision Blizzard had to respond urgently to reassure players after the leak of unverified information that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 would require 300 GB of memory. Activision has explained that this year’s Call of Duty does not require that much free space.
The panic began after a posting on the Xbox store yesterday claiming that the game would require 309.85GB of free storage to download. Players were visibly worried because such a large file would negatively affect the performance of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
The publishing company had to publish a post on social media to clarify this confusion. The post stated that the approximate file size currently displayed on the Black Ops 6 pre-order pages does not correspond to the download size. The sizes shown include the full installations of Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Warzone, and all content packs, including all localised languages combined. And such a download is not relevant for an ordinary player.
The publisher also noted that players will be able to install only Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 without language packs and additional settings. However, Activision Blizzard did not say how big this download will be after the release.
