The Wayfinder Echoes update, which was released on 11 June, brought significant changes to the game. The developer of Airship Syndicate decided to abandon the game model based on constant microtransactions in favour of a one-time premium purchase. According to the developers, they value the world and characters they have created. That is why they do not want them to get lost in the darkness of ruthless commerce.

This update was known back in May, when Airship Syndicate announced the removal of transactions. Then Wayfinder was removed from Steam for a while, but the Echoes update was tested at the same time. Now the game is back, but Wayfinder Echoes is actually a separate product. All game data from the previous version of Wayfinder will not be saved or transferred.

As for other innovations, the game now supports both single-player and cooperative play for up to three players. All items that could previously be bought for money can now be obtained through gameplay. The game has received new content, including a new character named Grendel, a new open area that is three times larger than the previous one, and six new hunting quests. RPG elements have been added, such as a talent system, randomised drops of weapons and armour with unique characteristics, and an improved process for obtaining new characters.
