Bethesda Games Studios Montreal forms a trade union

Bethesda Game Studios Montreal has applied for certification with the Quebec Labour Council. It became the latest studio to form a union. The union, known as One BGS MTL, plans to merge with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) in Canada. Its goal is to create a favourable work environment that encourages creative and talented developers to collaborate. This will allow the studio to continue to produce high-quality video games.

Bethesda Game Studios, based in Rockville, Maryland, opened an office in Montreal in 2015. Yves Lachance, who previously worked at Behaviour Interactive, became the head of the Montreal studio. Behaviour Interactive is known for the Dead by Daylight game and previously collaborated with Bethesda Game Studios on Fallout Shelter.

Bethesda Game Studios Montreal became one of the ZeniMax Media studios to join the union. More than 300 ZeniMax quality assurance employees announced the formation of a union with the CWA. This is part of a general trend in the video game industry, where many new unions have recently emerged.
