Recent reports from the Financial Times suggest that Warner Bros. Discovery plans to sell part of its gaming division. It is known that the company has already acquired Player First Games, the MultiVersus development team.

Warner Bros. is considering the sale of its gaming division as part of its strategy aimed at generating cash and repaying debts to investors. This potential sale would have significant implications for major intellectual property titles such as Mortal Kombat, Harry Potter, MultiVersus, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

In 2020, there were already rumours that Warner Bros. Games could acquired by EA or Microsoft, and this also discussed in 2022. The sale of smaller assets seen as a way for Warner Bros. to raise the necessary funds to address its debt obligations. If the gaming division is indeed sold, it will have a major impact on the future of popular gaming franchises and possibly lead to changes in the ownership of gaming IPs.
