New details have been revealed about the previously announced Disney and Fortnite collaboration, which could include a brand new game mode that could rival Disney’s Dreamlight Valley or Disney Infinity, report by GameRant. Many of the game’s biggest pop culture crossovers have been with Disney-owned properties like Marvel and Star Wars, with the former even hosting a massive event focused on Doctor Doom last year. Other popular Disney films featured in Fortnite include The Incredibles, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Avatar, with more likely to follow in the future.

Speaking of the future, Disney and Epic announced last year that they were forming a new partnership that would lead to a full-fledged Disney-themed gaming experience in Fortnite to go along with any future crossovers. Further details about what that meant emerged in late 2024, when Epic Games executive vice president Saxe Persson described the upcoming experience as a sort of standalone game mode that could be accessed through Fortnite and would allow gamers to interact with the Disney universe.

Players will be able to purchase Disney merchandise

As reported by ComicBook, the Disney/Fortnite collaboration was once again mentioned during a recent Disney shareholder meeting about the conglomerate’s future media projects. Disney CEO Bob Iger shared some of his company’s plans for its future partnership with Epic, including “a whole universe of entertainment parallel to Fortnite.” Users will reportedly be able to play Disney-themed games in the mode, as well as create their own using some kind of content creation package.

Disney’s collaboration with Fortnite includes content creation and in-game purchases. Fortnite has always included in-game purchases for character skins and other items, and this planned collaboration with Disney will be no different. Additionally, players will be able to purchase physical Disney merchandise, though it’s unclear exactly what will be available. It’s likely that this will include some sort of Disney/Fortnite apparel, similar to Disney’s Dreamlight Valley partnership with Loungefly.

Character Skins

Fans have already compared Disney’s planned Fortnite and Disney Dreamlight Valley collaboration to the defunct Disney Infinity crossover title, which featured collectible Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars toys that players could use in-game. Others have shared their ideas for what this exciting collaboration could entail, such as character skins based on properties like Beauty and the Beast and Kingdom Hearts, or a way to turn a player’s in-game avatar into a real-life doll or action figure. The upcoming Disney and Fortnite collaboration is full of possibilities, and more insight into those possibilities will likely become apparent the closer it gets to fruition.
