Ahead of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s PC release, Naughty Dog has revealed a few additions that will be coming to the No Return mode, reported by GameRant. “No Return” is an exclusive Rogue-like survival mode for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, and it invites players to complete a variety of missions in iconic locations from the sequel using four mission types: Assault, Capture, Hold, and Hunt. The Last of Us Part 2 first released in 2020, presenting a harrowing story set four years after its 2013 predecessor. A remastered version was later released for the PlayStation 5 in 2024, boasting visual improvements, a speed-focused mode, audio commentary, and more.

No Return Mode

April is set to be a big month for TLOU fans to make 2025 a memorable one. In addition to The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered releasing for PC on April 3rd, the HBO series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will premiere its second season, kicking off the highly anticipated Part 2 remaster on April 13th. Announced by Naughty Dog in a blog post alongside The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered PC specs, the developer outlined the new content coming to No Return mode.

Four new maps will be added to the gameplay, including Overlook, a Seraphite site; School, where Ellie and Dinah battle the WLF; Streets, which is a depiction of Seattle’s Hillcrest neighborhood; and Nest, which recreates the building Abby navigates and was taken over by the Infected. Additionally, two new characters have been added to the No Return mode: Bill with the Smuggler playstyle and Marlene with the Risky playstyle. Thankfully, PlayStation 5 owners will also get this new No Return content, along with new trophies and bug fixes, via a free patch released on the same date as the PC release.

New Characters

New No Return Characters Bill and Marlene join the roster of top characters from The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s No Return mode, complete with their own skill set. Players playing as Bill can use a special pump-action shotgun from dead drops to get double the rewards, and he has greater strength against melee attacks despite not being able to dodge. Marlene, on the other hand, uses a special assault rifle, all-or-nothing gambits, and can change routes without returning once per run.

While PC users immerse themselves in the new content that Part 2 Remastered has to offer, TLOU fans are eagerly awaiting the exciting new season of HBO’s adaptation, which features a significant time jump (like the game) and begins to unravel the story of Part 2. The second season of The Last of Us will introduce the classic “Stalkers,” who were memorable infected enemies from the game, and their participation will certainly increase the level of danger.
