The latest patch for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on PlayStation has fixed a major issue with unlockables that surfaced after the release of the previous update. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has received a pre-release update in anticipation of the game’s long-awaited PC release on April 3, 2025, GameRant has reported.
Over a year after launching on PS5, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has finally made its way to PC to rave reviews. Along with that, the PS5 remastered version, which was released in January 2024, also received a major update in the form of patch 2.0.0. This particular update brought a ton of fresh content, such as new “No Return” characters, maps, trophies, and the Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet cosmetic item, which is also available in the PC port. Unfortunately, in addition to these additions, the patch also caused The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered players to encounter an issue that reset their progress with unlockable items, which has now been resolved in the latest version of the game.
Patch 2.0.1 fixes campaign unlocks
Developers Naughty Dog recently released patch 2.0.1 for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on PS5, restoring unlockable items in the campaign mode, including skill points and an additional weapon holster, which some players lost after downloading patch 2.0.0. However, this fix is only applicable if the player loads a save created before April 3rd, the date of the release of the erroneous patch. In other words, those who replaced their original save with one created after that date and before the 2.0.1 patch update may still not have access to their unlocked items.
This follows on from a previous announcement by Naughty Dog around the time the bug was first acknowledged, which warned players not to overwrite their saves. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered team also shared that they are currently working on a fix for an issue with unlocked skins being lost in the game’s No Return mode. Meanwhile, with the PC port of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered , Naughty Dog has avoided a rocky start for the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1 in 2023.

PC Port of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
The remastered sequel has received a better reception at launch compared to the remake of the original game, which suffered from performance issues when it was released. At the time of writing, the newly released title has received glowing “Very Positive” user reviews on Steam after over 4.9K player reviews. It’s worth noting that The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s PC release comes at a good time for the franchise, with The Last of Us Season 2 set to release on April 13th.
So, it’ll be interesting to see if a live-action series will lead to a surge in interest in the post-apocalyptic game, as has been seen with the release of other video game adaptations in the past. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Update 2.0.1 Patch Notes restores campaign unlockables, such as an additional weapon holster and skill points, that were previously lost when continuing progress from a save created before patch 2.0.0.
