For ESO’s 10th anniversary, Bethesda is selling framed RAM chips from original servers for $110 each, reigniting debate over paid memorabilia and cosmetic DLC practices.

Bethesda has been widely criticized for creating paid cosmetic DLC. Who knew that damn horse armor would change the gaming ecosystem so much? Paying extra for cosmetics just seemed weird when it was first introduced, but it seems like people are paying for everything, as we’ve seen for years, TheGamer has reported.

While the buzz around Bethesda right now is all about the confirmation of the Oblivion Remake, it seems like The Elder Scrolls Online is going back to its old ways. As part of ESO’s 10th Anniversary, the company is letting you buy pieces of the original server as keepsakes. It’ll only cost you $110.

Purchase Elder Scrolls Online Server Fragments

The Elder Scrolls Online 10-Year Anniversary Keepsake is essentially one of the game’s original Blade servers in a frame, complete with a plaque. If you’re an avid collector or a big ESO fan, you can head over to the website to pre-order it, as there are only 2,000 units available for purchase. For $100, you’ve got to be a big MMORPG fan.

“When The Elder Scrolls Online launched in 2014, an amazing community was born,” the memorabilia description reads. “Since then, players have explored Tamriel together, faced dangers, discovered a captivating world, and even formed real bonds that extend beyond the game.”

MMO Memorabilia

“Those who want something truly meaningful to commemorate decades of adventuring with friends can now own an actual physical piece of The Elder Scrolls Online history: a RAM block taken from one of the game’s original servers.”

Sure, a memorabilia piece to commemorate your favorite MMO is a pretty cool thing. Even the idea that this is a blade server from the original server is something I can support, but $110 for this souvenir is pretty expensive, especially since it’s just an old chip, and there are 2,000 of them.
