According to a well-known insider, a Fallout 3 remaster is rumored to be coming out any time soon. Rumors of a The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remaster have been running high lately, with fans curious about a possible Fallout 3 remaster, but unfortunately, it looks like gamers won’t be able to play the title for a while. Fallout 3 was originally released in 2008, and it was the first title in the franchise developed by Bethesda, GameRant has reported.

Following the popularity of Oblivion, Fallout 3 became a major commercial hit, selling over 12 million units over the years. Back in 2023, during the FTC hearings where regulators were deciding whether Microsoft could acquire Activision Blizzard, leaked documents indicated that Bethesda was planning remasters for Oblivion and Fallout 3.

No word on when Fallout 3 remaster will be released

Now, insider Nate the Hate has addressed the rumored Fallout 3 remaster, claiming that it will be “a while” before gamers see it. The comment came after Nate responded to a fan who asked if the game was still in the works, as it was leaked nearly two years ago. Unlike the Oblivion remake, there has been no word on when it will be released since the original leak, and the project could easily have been canceled.

Unfortunately, Nate the Hate’s vague response doesn’t give us a clear-cut idea of when the remaster will finally be released, but we can speculate on a release date based on the details revealed in the original leaked documents. For example, Bethesda originally expected the Fallout 3 remaster to be released the same year as The Elder Scrolls 6. Given that The Elder Scrolls 6 isn’t even close to releasing in 2025, and will likely only be released in late 2026 or 2027, the game could have a similar timeline.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered

The launch of the Oblivion remaster, on the other hand, seems imminent. Rumors about the game have already started to surface over the past few months, but a recent leak has revealed real screenshots of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, indicating that the rumored title is real and will be released for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is expected to be a Day 1 release on Xbox Game Pass, and it could still be released in April. Current rumors suggest that the game has received a major graphics overhaul, as well as several quality of life improvements and some updated gameplay features, changing elements like combat.
