References to The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake Discovered on Bethesda’s Website
Bethesda has yet to officially unveil the much-anticipated remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, but it’s clear that the project exists and is on the verge of release.
This week, details and images related to The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake were discovered on the website of the developer Virtuos. Additionally, mentions of the project were found on Bethesda’s own site, including a now-removed code for a “Buy Now” button.
Reports suggest that Bethesda might be planning a surprise launch for the game next week on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with availability on Xbox Game Pass. However, no official confirmation has been made as of yet.
Behind the scenes, it seems Bethesda is preparing for next week, as some updates to their website have started gaining attention from fans. One user on Reddit shared findings from the source code of Bethesda’s site that referenced ‘oblivion-remastered’ in the Google Tag Manager configuration, accompanied by a screenshot as proof.
The user noted that this link pointed to a URL that was not active yet, and interestingly, a check on the Wayback Machine revealed that this reference had not existed as of April 10, indicating it was recently added.
Although the code has been taken down, similar to the information that appeared on Virtuos’ site, copies have circulated online, with archived versions of Virtuos’ content still accessible.
After a lengthy period of anticipation and numerous leaks related to the new entry in The Elder Scrolls franchise, fans may not have to wait much longer. Earlier this month, a notable figure in the gaming community urged Bethesda to shift their focus to remaking Morrowind instead of Oblivion. Perhaps that project could be on the horizon as well.
