Just a week after highlighting third-party partners, Nintendo has shifted its focus to indie developers, showcasing what gamers can expect for the Switch and Switch 2 between larger releases. The latest Indie World Showcase was concise but packed with fascinating titles; for those who missed it or want a quick recap, here’s what was revealed, though I must note upfront that there was no mention of Silksong.

Mina: The Hollower

Kicking off the presentation was Mina: The Hollower, the latest creation from Yacht Club Games, known for Shovel Knight. Players join Mina, a mouse on a nostalgic adventure to rescue a cursed island. Originally announced back in 2022, it now has an eerie release date: October 31, with a demo available today.

Well Dweller

From Kyle Thompson, the developer behind Crypt Custodian and Islets, comes Well Dweller, a “dark fairytale metroidvania” revolving around Glimmer, a little bird. Equipped with a matchstick, players must navigate a perilous kingdom to save Glimmer’s siblings from the queen’s sinister intentions. This title is expected on Switch sometime next year.

Neverway

Frequent indie showcase attendees might recognize Neverway, which features Fiona as she leaves her job to start anew on a farm. In a unique twist for the genre, she becomes the immortal herald of a deceased god, uncovering unspeakable horrors while engaging in traditional activities like fishing, farming, and crafting. Although a release date hasn’t been finalized, it is set to launch on Switch next year.

Herdlings

Herdlings, developed by Okomotive—creators of Far: Lone Sails—invites players on a “tale of beauty and companionship” as they guide a growing herd of magical creatures through misty forests and snowy landscapes. Amid the journey, players will encounter challenges and puzzles. This title hits the Switch eShop on August 21.

In the delightful logic puzzle game Is This Seat Taken? from Poti Poti Studio, players must cater to a demanding bunch and create a seating arrangement that satisfies everyone. The game features various settings, from buses to banquets. It’s available on Switch today.

Little Kitty, Big City

Little Kitty, Big City, an open-world adventure centered around a cat, is set to receive a significant free update on Switch. This update will introduce new story content, an additional neighborhood, and characters, alongside new photo mode enhancements and customization options for cats, expected later this year.

Content Warning

Content Warning, a co-op horror game that garnered significant attention after its PC debut last year, is making its way to Switch—with a version for Switch 2 on the horizon. The gameplay revolves around players delving into nightmarish realms, capturing the horrors on camera, and aiming to upload their footage for viral fame, all while ensuring at least one player survives to tell the tale. It’s set for release on Nintendo platforms next year.

Ball x Pit

Ball x Pit merges classic arcade brick-breaking gameplay with base-building and roguelite elements. Developed by Kenny Sun and published by Devolver Digital, players navigate auto-scrolling levels, defeating waves of enemies with ball attacks while gathering resources to enhance their settlement. This title launches for the original Switch on October 15, with the Switch 2 version expected this autumn.

Ultimate Sheep Racoon

Ultimate Sheep Racoon takes side-scrolling, bike-riding action to new heights, allowing up to eight players to collaborate—either locally or online—to construct challenging obstacle courses and engage in chaotic competition. This game serves as the spiritual successor to Ultimate Chicken Horse and is slated for release on Switch and Switch 2 this winter, featuring cross-platform play.

Glaciered

Set 65 million years in the future, a frozen world with oceans beneath ice serves as the backdrop for Glaciered, an underwater action game from Studio Snowblind. Players assume the role of a Tuai, a bird-like species with heat and cold manipulation powers, as they explore diverse underwater environments while combating creatures threatening the Everwinter. This title is set to release on Switch 2 this winter as a timed console exclusive.

UFO 50, Caves of Qud, and More!
