EA claims this is the largest Open Beta in Battlefield's history

The open beta for the latest installment in the Battlefield series, referred to as Battlefield 6, has set a new record for the series, becoming the largest beta test to date.

On Steam, the game reached an impressive peak of 473,632 concurrent players—an impressive feat, ranking it among the top games played over the weekend, just after Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG.

This achievement places Battlefield 6 as the twenty-second most popular game in Steam’s history, surpassing the previous record set by Monster Hunter Wilds, which hit a peak of 463,798 players during its own PC beta earlier this year.

“This is the largest Open Beta in the history of Battlefield,” Electronic Arts announced on their social media channels. “As peak times are approaching, we anticipate some queues. We’re diligently working on managing entry times, and we appreciate your patience while you wait to access the game.

“Our goal is for everyone to enjoy a seamless and equitable Open Beta, including those who are already in the game. Thank you for your enthusiasm for Battlefield 6’s Open Beta!”

Scheduled for release on October 10, Battlefield 6 is offering players the chance to participate in early access this weekend and next. Everyone who signed up for the game’s Labs tests has received access to this weekend’s events, which indeed includes a large number of players. If you miss the chance to jump in this weekend, don’t worry—you’ll have the opportunity to engage in the Weekend 1 challenges next week as well.

If you’re interested in experiencing the Battlefield 6 beta, there are still ways to obtain a code, but be prepared for possible queues if you’re successful.

One player, Connor, has already had the chance to dive into this highly anticipated title and commented: “[Playing Battlefield 6] gives me a sense of cautious optimism. It seems the foundation for an outstanding Battlefield game is present—perhaps even one for the ages—but I need more time with it to gauge how well the new gameplay changes are received. I’m curious to see how the community adapts their strategies beyond the traditional approach, as that could greatly enhance or hinder what could potentially be a fantastic experience.”
