Rock Band 4 will be removed from stores this week, making it your final opportunity to purchase song packs

Harmonix has announced that Rock Band 4 will be removed from digital storefronts later this week, providing a final opportunity for fans to purchase any outstanding song packs.

Originally launched ten years ago on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the game is facing the expiration of its core soundtrack licenses. Consequently, both the game itself and additional downloadable content (DLC) song packs will no longer be available for purchase or download starting October 5th. DLC packs will be taken down gradually as they reach their own ten-year anniversary.

Players who already own Rock Band 4 will retain access to the game and any songs they have purchased. Harmonix expressed its gratitude to the community for its enthusiasm, stating, “It’s been a unique journey to engage with you through Rivals challenges, a comprehensive DLC library, and a top-tier band simulation experience. If you’ve been considering getting additional songs, now is the time.”

This announcement was made via the official subreddit for the game.

In 2021, Harmonix was acquired by Epic, the company behind Fortnite, and has since developed a music mode for the game. Additionally, their last music project, the DJ mixing game Fuser, was taken offline in December 2022.
