Epic clarifies there are “no creative intentions” linking controversial Fortnite emote to Peacemaker TV series
Epic Games is set to revise a recently removed emote from Fortnite known as the Peacemaker emote, following concerns over its association with certain dance moves that stirred controversy.
The decision to pull the emote came after a significant revelation in the latest episode of a TV show. Although the emote had been integrated into the game earlier in September, it became evident that some of its dance elements bore a resemblance to a swastika.
Interestingly, the collaboration between Epic and Warner Bros. was finalized before the episode aired, leaving Epic uninformed about the dramatic twist in the storyline.
In a recent social media post, Epic addressed the situation, stating that there were no creative intentions to connect the Peaceful Hips Emote to the plotline of the show. The company plans to alter the emote’s choreography in an upcoming update next week, while also offering players the option to request a refund if they wish.
The full statement indicated, “We have collaborated closely with Warner Bros. Games to ensure there were no creative intentions linking the Peaceful Hips Emote to the ongoing Peacemaker storyline. To eliminate any misunderstandings, we will be adjusting the emote’s dance moves in next week’s update. Players who prefer may return the emote without utilizing a refund ticket.”
It seems this incident will not affect future partnerships between Epic and Warner Bros.
Additionally, Epic has revealed its newest collaboration with the acclaimed Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters, which will introduce new game modes and character skins. Exciting times lie ahead for players!
