World of Warcraft to Introduce Player Housing in December Before Midnight Expansion Release
Blizzard has revealed that player housing will be introduced to World of Warcraft on December 2nd, just ahead of the launch of the Midnight expansion. This initial phase of housing will not include all features, as the complete mechanics will be available when the Midnight expansion is officially released in 2026. Starting in December, players will have the opportunity to purchase a plot of land, create a neighborhood with fellow players, and begin customizing their homes using a variety of decorative items.
Future enhancements to the housing system will feature hundreds of additional decorations, incorporating items from previous achievements and experiences from older expansions, such as the Order Hall completion related to World of Warcraft: Legion.
Moreover, players will have the ability to upgrade their homes over time, which will increase budgets for both interior and exterior decor, as well as for room placements. Neighborhoods can be either private or public, enabling guild members to develop shared estates within different biomes.
Additionally, these neighborhoods will engage in monthly events known as endeavors. These activities will reward participants with exclusive decor items for their homes, fostering a sense of community collaboration in the housing system.
World of Warcraft: Midnight is the second installment in a planned three-part trilogy, following The War Within released last year. The expansion will take players back to Silvermoon city, where the Blood Elves are struggling to repel void-invaded attackers. Players will also have the chance to play as the Haranir, an allied race prominent in the narrative of The War Within.
When Blizzard initially announced the housing feature, it came with a light-hearted reference to Final Fantasy 14, another well-known MMO that has its distinct housing challenges. Notably, unlike Final Fantasy 14, World of Warcraft will not impose limitations on housing availability, ensuring that players can secure a home come December, which is certainly a positive aspect!
