Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 introduces new “more diverse” matchmaking trials and adjusts TTK on popular weapons

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 reveals extensive multiplayer gameplay and details in a new showcase

As Treyarch prepares for an “exciting day” with the Early Access Beta for Black Ops 7, they have outlined some “significant multiplayer playlist changes” to enhance the ongoing beta experience.

The developer emphasizes the importance of beta testing before the official launch, which allows them to “collect essential in-game data and feedback.” This process is especially crucial for games with a strong multiplayer component, as it helps ensure that players enjoy the “best experience possible.”

In response to community feedback and to rectify early issues, Treyarch is implementing “some updates” to the playlist structure. This weekend, players participating in the Open Moshpit playlist will notice that “skill consideration has been significantly reduced when it comes to matchmaking,” aimed at delivering a wider variety of match experiences and results. The intention is to match players with varying skill levels across all maps and game modes within this playlist.

While it’s not fully confirmed, it seems the other playlist, Moshpit, will maintain traditional skill-based matchmaking. Additionally, players can anticipate changes to Perk assignments upon the game’s release next month.

“While these updates will not be available in the Beta, we are attentive to your suggestions and will share more details as we approach the launch,” remarked the development team. They also confirmed that reloading during a Wall Jump will be a default feature at launch.

The team is actively monitoring feedback regarding the time-to-kill (TTK) mechanics, leading to adjustments for the Dravec 45 and M8A1 weapons. They observed these guns significantly outperforming others in terms of TTK, with high usage rates contributing to the current pacing of combat in the Beta.

“We began the Beta with TTK resembling that of Black Ops 6; however, we recognize that many players feel it may be a bit swifter than they prefer. Consequently, we plan to roll out a weapon balance update in the coming days to recalibrate TTK and guarantee that all weapons in the Beta remain competitive within their respective classes and intended roles,” the update elaborated.
