Luigi's Mansion, the cozy horror classic from GameCube, arrives on Switch 2 just in time for Halloween

Luigi’s Mansion will be added to the Nintendo Classics lineup for Nintendo Switch Online users with the Expansion Pack, starting October 30 for the upcoming Switch 2.

This addition has been anticipated, as it was mentioned in the initial rollout announcement for the service. It follows other titles like F-Zero GX, Soul Calibur 2, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker that debuted with the console, along with Mario Smash Football (known as Super Mario Strikers) and Chibi-Robo, which have been released subsequently.

Players are still looking forward to the arrival of Super Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, and Pokémon Colosseum.

When it first launched on the GameCube, Luigi’s Mansion sparked some debate since it was the first Nintendo system not to feature a Mario title at launch. Additionally, its relatively brief playtime of just a few hours was a point of contention. Nonetheless, the game is beloved for its engaging ghost-catching mechanics and clever puzzles, all enriched by delightful animations.

The franchise has since expanded with two sequels on the 3DS and Switch, with Luigi’s Mansion 3 being highlighted as one of the standout titles on the Switch. Speculation suggests that a Luigi’s Mansion 4 might be in development for the new console.

Furthermore, music from Luigi’s Mansion will be incorporated into the Nintendo Music app, enriching the experience for fans of the series.
