Baldur’s Gate 3 could soon be featured as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, based on a possibly early advertisement discovered on the Xbox Store.

Although I was unable to find the ad myself on either console or PC, a Reddit user managed to capture an image showcasing a promotional block for Baldur’s Gate 3 with the tagline “Now Xbox Play Anywhere.” While there’s a chance this could be a fabrication, the rough quality of the ad and its unusual angle lend it some credibility if it is indeed a fake.

I reached out to Larian Studios for clarification earlier today, but their current stance is one of silence, which I interpret as a positive indication.

For those unfamiliar, Xbox Play Anywhere titles allow players to purchase a game once and access it on both PC and Xbox, including on the new ROG Ally X handheld. Should Baldur’s Gate 3 become part of this initiative, players would enjoy the flexibility to choose their preferred platform for gameplay.

It’s unclear how this would affect users who already own the game on Xbox and if they would get access to it on other platforms retrospectively; however, I would hope that prior players are not disadvantaged.

Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to stand out as one of the best RPGs of this generation. Since its launch in 2023, Larian has consistently updated the game. The latest update, Patch 8, introduced cross-play capabilities, new subclasses, a photo mode, and the long-anticipated split-screen co-op feature for Xbox Series S. If you haven’t had a chance to experience it, now would be a great time to dive in.
