New Control trademark ignites speculation about Remedy's announcement at The Game Awards

A trademark for a project titled Control: Resonant has recently been filed in Europe, prompting speculation that the developer, Remedy Entertainment, may unveil something exciting at The Game Awards next month.

This trademark was brought to light by a gaming news outlet, which noted that it falls under various categories, including video game services, miscellaneous products, and entertainment production related to television and films.

Interestingly, the registration does not explicitly mention Remedy, but it does list Nordia Attorneys at Law, a legal firm with which Remedy has previously collaborated for trademark matters.

As for what Control: Resonant might involve, Remedy has already confirmed work on a sequel to Control, alongside other media adaptations, such as film or television projects. In 2024, it was revealed that Remedy joined forces with Annapurna to create audiovisual content based on both the Alan Wake and Control franchises.

The sequel was first hinted at in 2022, with promises of an “unexpected journey.” Since then, the studio has remained tight-lipped about further details. However, they did mention in August of last year that key features had reached a “playable form.” Subsequently, in November, it was confirmed that the sequel would adopt an action-RPG format. Additionally, a teaser for the sequel may have been subtly included in the recent Alan Wake 2 DLC titled The Lake House.

As The Game Awards 2025 approaches, it appears that Remedy may soon reveal more about Control: Resonant. Fans are eagerly anticipating what the studio has in store.

In other news regarding Remedy, earlier this year, CEO Tero Virtala announced his resignation after 11 years with the company. Although no reasons were provided, this followed a profit warning to investors related to disappointing sales of the multiplayer spin-off, FBC: Firebreak.
