No trailer for The Witcher 4 is anticipated at this year’s Game Awards as development is still ongoing

CD Projekt cautions that Witcher 4 beta test invitations may be a "scam

The Game Awards are just around the corner, providing an exciting opportunity to celebrate the finest achievements in gaming over the past year and to witness thrilling new reveals. However, fans eager for updates on The Witcher 4 will be disappointed to know that there won’t be any new trailers featured during the event.

This disappointing news comes from Michał Nowakowski, the co-CEO of CD Projekt Red, who shared his thoughts on X. He expressed delight that The Witcher 4 has been nominated for Most Anticipated Game but clarified that no new content would be showcased at the awards.

Nowakowski stated, “I’m thrilled to see The Witcher 4 nominated in the Most Anticipated Game category at The Game Awards. Thank you to everyone who has voted; your support is invaluable to us. While we won’t present any new material this year at TGA, we are, as ever, looking forward to the show and celebrating a remarkable night for our industry with all of you.”

The development of The Witcher 4 is progressing well, and CD Projekt Red has been actively recruiting talent in recent months to accelerate its journey towards release. The last time gameplay was displayed was in June; however, the presented demo, which appeared to depict gameplay, was actually a showcase of tech capabilities and did not reflect the final product, as stated by CD Projekt Red. Nonetheless, the performance from that demo is the benchmark the team aims for, revealing a glimpse of the northern landscape that players can expect in The Witcher 4.

Despite the absence of new content from The Witcher franchise, The Game Awards promises to be an exciting event. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has already made headlines by becoming the most nominated game of 2025, and there have been changes in the nominations due to the withdrawal of the Megabonk developer, Vedinad. It’s shaping up to be a night worth tuning into next month.
