World of Warcraft expansion Midnight is set to launch in March 2026

Blizzard has officially announced that the upcoming expansion for World of Warcraft, titled Midnight, is set to launch on March 2, 2026. This expansion marks the second chapter in the Worldsoul Saga, which commenced last year with the release of The War Within and will ultimately reach its conclusion with The Last Titan.

Midnight introduces a variety of exciting new features to World of Warcraft, with the most prominent being the long-awaited player housing system. This system not only allows players to personalize their homes but also enables groups to organize their residences into communal neighborhoods. Blizzard has previously referred to this feature as “a sociological experiment.”

However, the housing system is not without its controversies. The introduction of a new real-money currency, known as Hearthsteel, has sparked some discussion among the community. Players will be able to use this currency to purchase furniture, decorations, and other cosmetic items for their homes. Early access to the housing feature will commence on December 2 for players who pre-order Midnight, providing a clearer picture of how this system will function.

Additionally, the expansion will introduce a new subterranean race for the Alliance, called the Haranir, and a new specialization for Demon Hunters focused on darkness and damage dealing, known as the Devourer. Players will also revisit the Blood Elf realms of Quel’Thalas and Silvermoon City, both of which have been damaged in the past but will undergo restoration in this update.

Moreover, Midnight will feature a new open-world Player vs. Environment (PvE) system called Prey. This system allows players to declare themselves as ‘prey,’ enabling a dynamic hunt-and-be-hunted mechanic that introduces roaming bosses with varying levels of difficulty throughout the game world.
