Brad Caleb Kane is the new showrunner of Crystal Lake prequel
Brad Caleb Kane has announced as the new showrunner of the upcoming Crystal Lake prequel series in the Friday the 13th franchise. Kane will replace Brian Fuller. Initially, he supposed to serve as showrunner, but in May he confirmed that he no longer involved in the project.
Despite Fuller’s departure, Peacock Channel and A24 are continuing to work on the series. Kane will not only be the showrunner, but also the executive director, creator, writer and executive producer of Crystal Lake. Interestingly, this not the only horror prequel series in which Kane involved. He also announced the showrunner of the series It: Welcome to Derry on HBO, alongside Jason Fuchs.
Kane has expressed his excitement to be part of the upcoming Crystal Lake TV show. He stated that his childhood was spent on cult horror films, and being a part of this franchise is a dream come true.
What will Crystal Lake be about
The first talk about the series was in 2022, when Peacock and A24 received a direct order for it. It reported that the events of the upcoming prequel will unfold after the drowning of young Jason Voorhees. In the original 1980 film, Jason’s death makes his mother want to take revenge on the camp counsellors she blames for the tragedy. Although specific plot details are being kept under wraps, fans of the franchise can look forward to the familiar atmosphere that made Friday the 13th a horror classic.
