Scream 7 is scheduled for release in early 2026
After serious difficulties behind the scenes, fans of the Scream series have finally received the long-awaited news – Scream 7 will released on 27 February 2026. This officially announced by actress Neve Campbell, who will reprise her role as Sydney Prescott, and director Kevin Williamson. The Paramount Pictures company and Spyglass Media confirmed this information in a press release.
There might not have been a franchise extension
The emergence of a release date is a real achievement for the film, which has experienced many difficulties. In November 2023, actress Melissa Barrera fired after posting about the conflict in Gaza on social media. Immediately afterwards, it became known that Jenna Ortega would also not return to the role she played in the previous films in the series. Thus, the two Carpenter sisters, who were key characters after the franchise relaunched in 2022, left the project.

In December 2023, director Christopher Landon also left Scream 7, calling his experience working on the film a nightmare, although it was originally his dream. After that, Kevin Williamson, who wrote the scripts for the first, second and fourth films in the series, returned to the director’s position. This revived hopes for the successful development of the project.
The duo behind the previous two films, known as Radio Silence, also announced that they would not return to direct the seventh instalment, but would remain as executive producers. Screenwriter Guy Busick, who co-wrote the previous two films, will return to write the script.
What to expect from the plot
It is currently unknown how the plot of Scream 7 will develop, given the absence of the Carpenter sisters and the return of Sydney Prescott. The official synopsis has not yet been published. However, the very fact that there is a release date is a sign that development is in full swing.
