Ghost of Tsushima 2 game reviewed at State of Play
During the State of Play presentation, Sony reviewed the upcoming game Ghost of Tsushima 2. The game is scheduled for release in 2025, officially titled Ghost of Yōtei, and the main role is played by a woman.
What the Ghost of Tsushima 2 trailer shows
The trailer shows the main character named Atsu travelling to the lands around Mount Yōtei. Atsu is travelling in the company of her pet wolf, and her main goal is to take revenge to restore justice. The game’s world looks more spacious and free than the one players could see in the previous instalment, when the land was under siege from foreign invaders.
At the beginning of the trailer, a man, who is later killed by a travelling female samurai, says that people are coming to the north to disappear. The audience is then shown locations of autumnal forests, snowy fields and lush valleys. At the end of the trailer, Atsu looks up at Mount Yotei, brandishing a double sword.
Why the name changed
According to Andrew Goldfarb, Communications Manager at game development studio Sucker Punch, on the PlayStation Blog, the game’s story is based on original historical events. The area around Yotei did not belong to Japan at one time. Although there was a lot of land here, people faced with endless dangers. The sprawling meadows and snowy tundras of Yotei are very different from the samurai clans that lived in Tsushima, which used as the basis for the first part of the game. That is why the name changed to a more appropriate one.
This territory was outside of Japanese rule and was filled with vast meadows, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. It’s a far cry from the organised samurai clans that lived in Tsushima, and it’s the setting for an original story that we can’t wait to tell.
The game takes place hundreds of years after the events of the first part. Ghost of Yōtei is not only a continuation, but also a new beginning. The game offers players to explore new characters, a story, and an incomprehensibly large map. Of course, fans of the game will miss the familiar character of the first part, Jin Sakai. However, the content of the new game is no worse than the previous one.
