Sam Porter Bridges will return to help Fragile rebuild the shattered world of Death Stranding once again, this time as part of a new organization called Drawbridge. They are joined by Captain Tharman on a drawbridge (modeled after Mad Max director George Miller), a robotic doll named Dollman, and the mysterious Tomorrow Girl. Higgs, the villain from the first game, also returns with a new appearance to exact revenge on Sam and Fragile.

More secrets may be revealed at the upcoming South by Southwest convention on March 9 in Austin, Texas. Kojima Productions has officially announced that it will have a panel at the show, with Hideo Kojima himself taking to the stage at 4:00 PM Central Time (5:00 PM ET, 2:00 PM PT) to reveal more information about Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. More details about SXSW 2025 will be announced as the event gets closer.

Hideo Kojima’s latest Death Stranding 2 announcement comes shortly after Sony announced that a new PlayStation State of Play livestream will take place on Wednesday, February 12. While Death Stranding 2’s confirmed presence at SXSW 2025 may rule out any news about the game at the upcoming State of Play, a smaller update could be coming tomorrow. Ultimately, Death Stranding 2 is being released by Sony as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

Many details remain to be revealed, including the exact release date of Death Stranding 2. So far, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is said to be released this year only, but perhaps a more specific date will be set when Hideo Kojima appears at the South by Southwest convention next month to shed more light on his upcoming psychological game.
